On Friday afternoon, more than twenty-five vendors met at the Kootenai County fairgrounds to set up booths containing various rocks, gems, fossils, and tools.
The event is put on every year by the North Idaho Mineral Club. This year, the club raffled off a grand prize (a large rock structure) to raise money for the club.
This year, Mike and Diane Rose headed up the organization of the event. Mr. Rose got interested in rocks when he was just five years old. He found a rock while he was taking care of his cow. The rock turned out to be an Indian artifact, and he’s been a rock hound ever since then.
