Both Phyllis and Bob were active in First Presbyterian Church in Decatur. She was an amazing baker and for many years baked hundreds of cookies to give to friends at Christmas. She enjoyed knitting and weaving and was a member of the Weavers Guild. After their children were grown, both Phyllis and Bob started running and with Bob as her coach, she was the fastest female in her age group in 5K/10K races all over the US. They both ran a full marathon in their 60’s.
In 2006, Phyllis and Bob moved to Spokane Valley, Washington to be near family and later moved to Coeur d Alene, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Schwandt, in 2019. At 100 ½ years of age, she was the last of her generation, but will be long remembered by her four children and their spouses plus nine grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church, 521 Lakeside Ave., Coeur d Alene, Idaho.
